Normal gear shifting is not possible with a broken gear shifting mechanism.
The most obvious result of a broken is failure or difficulty in gear shifting. There are three types of gear shifting mechanism for automotive transmission systems: straight slide gear, engagement sleeve, and synchronized shift.
A gear shifting mechanism consists of stick, pull wire, gear selection and changing mechanism, shifting fork, and synchronizer. The stick is used for gear control, gear engagement, and gear disengagement. The pull wire draws the gear for shifting. The gear selection and changing mechanism facilitates gear engagement or shifting. The shifting fork and the synchronizer are used to engage or disengage different gears.
